Wellington City Council is hosting a series of community briefings with GNS Science to talk about earthquakes. The briefings are designed to give you and your community a better understanding of the earthquake risk to our city.

The briefings will give you an overview of what has already been done to make our city safer and the work we have planned to improve our infrastructure’s resilience.

You’ll also find out more about what you can do to make sure you and your family are ready for an earthquake and have the opportunity to talk to our experts about earthquake issues over a cup of tea afterwards.

The next meeting of the Newtown Residents’ Association will be held on Monday 18^th June 2012 at Newtown Hall, Daniell St (opposite Mediterranean Warehouse) at 7.30pm

The Awards were made to a group of the core Newtown Festival organisers past and present – James Coyle, Peter Frater, Martin Hanley and Anna Kemble Welch. The awards were presented by Mayor Celia Wade-Brown at the Council Meeting on 22 May.

A public meeting on Local Government Reform will be held 7.00pm Tuesday 5th June at Newtown Hall, 5 Daniell St.  This has been called by Hon Annette King, Cr Paul Eagle and Cr Daran Ponter.
